I share my story and the lessons I’ve learnt along the way — opening honest conversations about toxic families, generational trauma, healing, motherhood and choosing a different path for the next generation

Hi, I’m Usha.
I’m an author, speaker and mum of two who spent years believing that keeping the peace was the same thing as being happy. It wasn’t.
For a long time, I thought being a good daughter meant staying quiet, accepting things that hurt me and putting everyone else’s needs before my own. Eventually, I realised that sometimes breaking a cycle means being the person brave enough to say: it stops with me.
Today, my life looks very different. I’m raising my daughters with the safety, voice and unconditional love I needed growing up — while using my own story to help open conversations that too many of us were taught to keep behind closed doors.
My story started with Breaking Free. The conversation didn’t end there.
What began as a deeply personal memoir has opened the door to conversations far beyond the pages of my book. Through podcasts, media appearances and speaking opportunities, I now talk openly about toxic family dynamics, generational trauma, breaking cycles and what it really takes to choose a different life.

Breaking Free
A deeply personal memoir about growing up within a toxic family, finding the courage to walk away, and learning that breaking generational cycles can begin with one person choosing differently.

Speaking & Media
From podcasts and interviews to media appearances and speaking opportunities, I share honest conversations about toxic families, generational trauma, breaking cycles and finding the courage to choose yourself.

Healing & Breaking Cycles
What I lived through shaped me, but it doesn’t define me. I share what I’ve learnt about healing, boundaries, motherhood and breaking generational cycles — because choosing a different path can change what comes next.
Taking the conversation beyond the book.
From podcasts and interviews to conversations about family, culture, healing and breaking generational cycles, sharing my story has opened the door to discussions that reach far beyond the pages of Breaking Free.

Mani Kaur
An honest conversation about toxic family dynamics, breaking generational cycles and finding the courage to choose a different path.

A Millennial Mind
A candid conversation about toxic family dynamics, bullying, cultural expectations and finding the courage to finally break free.

Unfiltered with Sapna
A heartfelt conversation about family, resilience, breaking generational cycles and finding the courage to share your story.
You don’t have to keep carrying what was handed to you.
For years, I thought healing meant learning how to live with what had happened. I know now that it can also mean questioning what you were taught, setting boundaries, choosing yourself and deciding what you want to carry forward — and what ends with you.
Let’s keep the conversation going.
Whether you’ve found your way here through my book, my story or one of the conversations I’ve shared, I hope something here reminds you that choosing a different path is always possible.
